DNA Kit fact
Confusion reigns - I am trying to get the DNA kit chart from Charting Companion, but a thread in the plugin section here on the forum says the DNA Kit fact should be an attribute. However I find there is already a fact in the list - for DNA Kit - but as an event, and I am unable to change that to attribute (greyed out). How do I sort this one? The User Guide is no help - on page 125 the section on how to enter the DNA Kit 'event' in FH very briefly points to the instructions for COLOR event which is not very clear or helpful (to me, anyway). What do I do?

Re: DNA Kit fact
I cannot explain where your DNA Kit Event has come from, but it is NOT a built-in FH Fact Type.
Perhaps you created it and have forgotten, or perhaps it has been imported from a GEDCOM you have downloaded?
Nevertheless, the Extended Set built into FH has a DNA Markers Attribute.
See glossary:work_with_fact_sets#custom_facts_from_other_products|> Custom Facts from other Products for details of how to reveal Extended Set facts.
If it really MUST be a DNA Kit Attribute then you can create that as a custom fact from scratch.
It will warn that it is unwise to have an Event and Attribute with same name, but you can ignore that.
You just need to be careful to chose the correct one.

Mike,
Thanks for your reply and no, I do not know where that DNA Kit fact has come from. Will delete it and start again!

Re: DNA Kit fact
Having set up a DNA fact (attribute) and saved the project, on running the Charting Companion plugin and opening the descendant chart box, the DNA tab is not there as it is said in the User Guide that it should be. I have the latest version of CC. What now?

Re: DNA Kit fact
Unfortunately, I have not purchased Charting Companion so cannot test its features.
A bit more detail on exactly what you have done would be helpful, otherwise I'm guessing.
In how_to:charting_companion|> Charting Companion it says its requires a Custom Attribute specifically named DNA Kit with its value set to the Number for each person. That advice stems from the Charting Companion DNA Chart (15716) thread, but there Kathryn uses DNA kit with a small k instead of K and I don't know if that matters.
So I guess you have used Tools > Fact Types and created a custom Individual Attribute named DNA Kit?
Presumably several Individual records have that DNA Kit fact with its value set to the DNA Kit Number?
Has anyone else used this feature and can offer Martyn any advice?
On the Progeny Genealogy page https://progenygenealogy.com/Products/F ... DNA-Matrix there is a YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGZyzQ ... e=youtu.be that I suggest you watch (have you supplied the .CSV file). Interestingly, it refers to DNA kit and DNA Kit and DNA Markers as fact names, so maybe any of them will do.
There is a similar video for DNA Simulation at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBe6Pd8 ... e=youtu.be.
Also see the https://www.progenygenealogy.com/Portal ... ads/cc.pdf User Guide that has sections on DNA charts.
