Merging Source Records

Postby WBFamHist » 14 Jun 2019 11:37

Rather stupidly I have set up and used two Source Records with the same name, i.e. 1841 Census. I have allocated data against each of these and now wish to merge them so that I end up with only one "1841 Census" Source Record to allocate future data against. Is it possible to do this? Thanks for any help.

View them in the records window, select one then click merge from the edit menu. It will open a dialog box with selected record in right-hand pane. From the left hand pane select the other record you wish to merge, and move that into right hand pane too ( using > ). When you click merge, it will move all links to the topmost entry in right hand pane, so adjust their relative position with up/down arrows before clicking merge.

I have moved this to the FH General Usage Forum as the General Forum is inappropriate for FH questions.

Thanks Mike. That's worked and saved me a lot of bother!
