Record Window - Timeline of family events affected by adding Witness event

Post by MB@RE » 25 Mar 2019 11:43

Hi,

Apologies if this has already been brought to the forum members before.

Normally, in a person's records window, you would see the shaded lines, for example, their mother's/father's deaths. Which I think is great.

When you add Witnesses to an event using the 'gear'symbool. The event name is then changed to read Witness at Death of ......

This now gives greater prominence to a Witness event instead of a familial event. Surely this shouldn't be the case ?

Is there a way to maintain or add the original familial event back to the records window ?

Thank you.

It's working as designed, a Witness link is a "data record" link so will be shown rather than the implied event from another individual.

If you want a better display you could customise the Role Advanced Settings to provide a clearer implementation, perhaps including the relationship.

So my sentence for Present at Death is

{individual} was present at the death of {=Relationship(%CUR~WITN>%,%CUR_PRIN%)} {principal} {date} <{address}, >{place}

And my output for the Fact window is

Present at death of {=Relationship(%CUR~WITN>%,%CUR_PRIN%)} {principal}
