Matches from Find My Past and My Heritage query

Post by jojangles » 08 Apr 2018 18:03

Hi,

On Family Historian there are matches to FMP and/or My Heritage shown against some people. If you click on them and accept them, how do they show up on the records of the person concerned (on Family Historian)?

I would be very grateful for help in how this works.
Thank you

Welcome to the FHUG.

The short answer is they don't automatically show up anywhere.

To find out more about that Focus Window feature, press the F1 key, or use Help > Family Historian Help > Workspace 1: The Focus Window. Then in The Focus Window help page follow the link at the bottom where it says:
"To learn more about Internet Data Matching, see the Internet Data Matches tab."

Effectively those 'hints' are just a shortcut instead of manually searching the FindMyPast/MyHeritage records.
Once the desired records have been located, then adding them to FH is a manual process.

As a newcomer I advise you study how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers and follow its links to other [kb]|[/kb] topics, one of which is Internet Data Matches that provides further advice.

There is also a useful introduction on the main FH web site:

Yes, that and several other references are mentioned in how_to:internet_data_matches|> Internet Data Matches reached via how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers.
