Hi,
I have found new family records, about 17 people, on Ancestry.com. How do I add them into FH 6.2 where there is an existing tree with photos. I have found that if I download a new Gedcom to FH the photos disappear.
Do I have to add all the information about each new person from Ancestry.com to manually?
Thank you,
Jan Day

Re: moving new family record from Ancestry into FH where there is an existing tree
Welcome to the FHUG Jan.
As a newcomer I advise you study how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers and its links to other [kb]|[/kb] pages.
One of those topics refers to Importing to Family Historian with a link to how_to:import_from_ancestry|> Import from Ancestry website. Yes, a GEDCOM exported from Ancestry does NOT include any photos or other Media images.
If you have a copy of FTM it is often easier to how_to:import_from_family_tree_maker|> Import from Family Tree Maker (FTM).
The first step is to create a separate new Family Historian Project for just the tree you are trying to migrate.
Then that can be adjusted and pruned so it only contains the records you need, and if necessary photos and other Media added.
The second step is to merge that temporary new Project into your master Project.
Ideally there needs to be one or more Individual records in the two Projects that match each other so that the merging process joins the two trees together. See glossary:merge_compare_files|> Merge/Compare File.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for the welcome!
And thank you for that information, though it will take me a while to understand.
I will go and read those links you sent to me.
Thanks so much!
