Unableto see names
Recently on opening my FH6 Project , I can't see the peoples names, only their dates and places? See attached screenshot.
How can I change this?

It looks like you have black writing on a black background!
1. Select Tools > Preferences from the menu.
2. Select "Records Window"
3. Select "Colours"
4. Select the "Individual Record"
5, Select a colour from the right (yellow perhaps?)
6. Click the select button
7. Click OK

Re: Unableto see names
You will need to work through the other colours as well now you have a dark background set in Windows.

Re: Unableto see names
Thank you Jane-is it possible to change the dark background to a lighter colour instead?

Re: Unableto see names
Using a lighter colour makes the highlighted individual's line go black so as unreadable?
I don't understand how the colours got to this state recently without me changing them?

Re: Unableto see names
John, if you have not changed the colour settings in FH or Windows, then perhaps some Windows Update has upset them.
Is it only FH colours that are upset or are other programs affected?
If ONLY FH is affected, then in the screenshot Jane posted earlier, click the Installation Settings button next to the OK button labelled 7.
If the problem is widespread, then Windows needs adjusting, but we need to know which version you use.
Is it Windows 10, 8, 7, or Vista?

Re: Unableto see names
As can be seen from Janes first post on this thread creating a complete colour scheme is a tedious process so this may be a good time to remember that once you have set up your scheme it can be exported and imported back, with a suitable name, so that it becomes a named colour scheme in the drop down box on the General tab of preferences. See Using colour in Family Historian (11209).

It looks like you might have the High visibility scheme set in the Windows Control panel.

Re: Unableto see names
It seems that you are correct-I have set up my win 10 ease of access settings due to my sight probs caused by cataracts . Sorry to have wasted your time Jane and Mike.
An op is due in about 3 months so still a long time to wait without clear sight making ft research and other pc work v difficult, can't read a book or drive.
