Query on Address fields

Post by RogerF » 06 Sep 2016 11:13

Sorry if this is another senior moment. Is it possible to write a query which reports on the number of uses of each distinct entry in all Address fields? Something like:

Code: Select all

Apple Avenue 3
Back Street 37
Corporation Road 10
...

Those counts are actually built into FH via the Tools > Work with Data > Addresses dialogue and the associated Special Data Report.

The thing about the Work with Data reports (at least in V5) is that they include the facts for everyone in the database whereas I'd like to be able to restrict them to just related or Pool 1 individuals.

It'll be MyFirstPlugin when I get the time

In the meantime Stevie, use File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM File and Select the desired Individuals via Add using Query. After the exported Gedcom is saved in Public folder, FH will offer to open it, and then the Work with Data details will apply to that selection of Individuals. Create whatever Custom Queries you need to Select the desired Individuals.

Thank you, Mike,

I just can't believe I missed the Tools > Work with Data > Addresses option. Creeping senility, eh?...
