strange behaviour of www.family-historian.co.uk

Post by CCruz » 12 Aug 2016 14:18

When you go to http://www.family-historian.co.uk I see a previous unseen behavior.
It tries to open a file that, if you choose to save, saves with the name "download" in chrome or in firefox "nAONEn66", "MIzP0Eot" or possibly other names. It is a 40 bytes file.
As it never happens before I did not open it.

I get the same but perhaps slightly different. It says I have "chosen to open ... application/x-trash (40 bytes)". This is using the latest version of Firefox. With Edge it tries to download a file called "WLSNJTNG".

In Firefox the complete behavior is:

A new window with the title "Opening" opens, saying:

"You have chosen to open:
(2 blank lines)
which is: application/x-trash (40 bytes)
from: http://www.family-historian.co.uk
What should Firefox do with this file?
- open with [Browse...]
- save file"

I have spoken to Calico and it should be fixed now. I understand the hosting company had changed a matching algorithm.
