Sources and Record Numbers
Some of my source records have got the wrong record IDs. Can the ID numbers be amended?

Re: Sources and Record Numbers
Welcome to the FHUG.
The Record ID for every type of record are automatically assigned by FH as explained in glossary:record_types_and_record_id|> Record Types and Record Id.
What do you mean by the 'wrong Record IDs' anyway?
Wrong in relation to what?
The Record ID can be amended but it is not recommended except in exceptional circumstances.
As a newcomer I advise studying how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers and following its links to other topics in our Knowledge Base.

Re: Sources and Record Numbers
Thanks.
On the records page under the source tab, the source details are given a record ID which does not correspond to the record ID of the person it relates to. I'm not sure how this has happened. It is the same on the multi media page.
Or have I got this completely wrong and the ID relates to the item, not the person?

Re: Sources and Record Numbers
Each "type" of record has its own Record ID sequence, so Source Records, Family Records, etc each have a Record ID auto assigned by FH from their own "group" of numbers. Bear in mind, in relation to your specific example, a Source record can be "linked" to multiple Individual records.

Re: Sources and Record Numbers
Yes, read glossary:record_types_and_record_id|> Record Types and Record Id - the ID relates to the record item not the person.
The Record ID for each type of Record (there are 10 of them) are completely independant.
e.g.
There is no way a Source Record ID could match an Individual Record ID if for instance the Source record is a Census for a household of several people, which therefore would be cited by a Census Event for each of those Individuals.
