It worked OK for me Dave.
So try the download again directly from http://www.family-historian.co.uk/downl ... ee-upgrade and install it following the advice in how_to:family_historian_installation_problems|> Family Historian Installation Problems regarding Run as administrator, and maybe temporarily disable your anti-virus software, or use Windows Safe Mode. Check that the Family Historian program is NOT running.

What I am disappointed about is the lack of details regarding what exactly has been updated.

I assume the "faster application startup" is in response to the [FHU] Mailing List thread FH slow to start.
I think the "improved auto-completion of place names" relates to thread autofill places (13585).
But what are the "other fixes to minor issues reported by users"?

Having used FH itself to download and install the upgrade I also got an error message:
FHErrorMessage.png
FHErrorMessage.png (20.52 KiB) Viewed 6965 times
and worryingly when I checked the file listings FH.exe had been deleted.

However, I then downloaded the upgrade file directly from the FH web site and ran it. This time it did install and FH seems to be working OK.

Gerry and Dave, I usually avoid using the FH Check for Updates method, and download directly from website.

Firstly it avoids any extra complications of involving FH in the process.
Secondly the downloads give me a historical archive of installation files that I can revert to if necessary, and let me Run as administrator.

BTW: Gerry, did you choose the Abort, Retry, or Ignore option?

Have either of you recently upgraded from Windows 7/8.1 to Windows 10 ?

No problems updating for me from within the application on a Win 7 Virtual Machine.

It certainly does seem to start up much quicker than before, i always thought that this was an issue with my VM but it appears not.

I have not yet noticed any difference in the address auto completion.

Colin, you won't notice any difference in the Address auto completion, because that was never upset, and only Place auto completion was upset with introduction of FH V6 Place Records, but now seemingly fixed to correctly use the most-frequently-used strategy, but see autofill places (13585) for further comments.

Mike, I tried Retry a couple of times but got the same message each time. I then Aborted and downloaded the upgrade file from the FH web site, as you suggest. That seemed to work.

Funny, I'm not seeing any improvement in auto-complete Places -- exactly as bad as before...

I've tried all variations regarding updating to 6.2.1 - all have failed.

I have now given the details to Calico Pie, and await their response.

Roger, please post more details in autofill places (13585) as many have seen 'improvements' but still not the same as V5.
