* Backup A S options not working correctly

I have been using AS for several years without problems. I now have an issue with Backup A S Options not working correctly.
I have reloaded A S having deleted the previously installed version 5. On following this reload an A S backup a file was produced. On trying restore backup the screen layout is changed with the left hand side, which is about 70% of the screen initially, now changes to about 20% with everything squashed up. I then tried restoring a backup from 2013 in my file backup history and it worked fine proving the problem is possibly with the current backup software clashing with current Windows software.
I am using Windows 8.1 on a desktop which has been working ok for around 20 months. Every time I get these multiple Microsoft updates it seems to affect one or more other programs.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

I have quickly repeated your experiment with Backup/Restore A.S. Options, which operate on the Windows Registry.

I discoverd that, unlike Tools > Options that are saved immediately, windows pane sizes seem not to be saved until AS is closed.

So if that lefthand pane was narrow when AS was opened, then that is what gets backed-up, regardless of the current pane size.

So set the AS window pane sizes required. Close and Open AS to set the sizes into the Windws Registry. Then the Backup/Restore A.S. Options should behave as expected.
