I am trying to print large ancestor diagrams to a pdf file. I want to force the file to print to a single page so that I can send it to a commercial print shop.
I have been experimenting with the "Family Historian PDF" vs the "Adobe PDF" options. For both options, I have selected the "Adjust PDF File Page Size So That The Diagram Fits Into One Page (if possible)". I have also scaled down the diagram size so that it is less than the 120" limitation for FH.
The above selections seem to work when I select the "Family Historian PDF" format. However, when I select the "Adobe PDF" format, it will not compress the diagram to 1 page, even when I select Architectural E size paper (36"x 48") in Landscape orientation.
Can anyone explain why the "Family Historian PDF" will compress to 1 page but the "Adobe PDF" format will not?
One more observation. Since I have scaled down the diagram to get below the 120" limitation, I tried increasing the FH PDF dpi setting to some number above the standard 300 dpi. This works for 360, 600, and 720 dpi, but when I select 1200 dpi, FH will not generate a PDF file. Is there some max file size limit being exceeded when I select the 1200 dpi setting?

Re: PDF Print Settings For Diagrams
In the past I have experimented with PDF output settings on different programs to get a large single page which is ideal for showing a large tree, not yet I should add with FH but with TMG, however as you have discovered different "PDF" production programs accommodate different settings.
New and updated PDF programs regularly appear, so I can only suggest you look around and try different programs to see what is possible.
As regards the "This works for 360, 600, and 720 dpi, but when I select 1200 dpi.....", I suspect you are just going over whatever limit there is; don't forget doubling the dpi is like quadrupling the output size (I think?).

Bob, it sounds like you are aware of the options, but there may be some tips you have overlooked in how_to:creating_a_single_page_pdf_of_a_diagram|> Single Page PDF of a Diagram which also has links to past postings on the subject.
