Duplication of Relative on FHC

Post by KenP » 09 Jan 2015 12:16

I have a Duplication of a Relative on my FHC. The man and wife are shown married and the woman then has a direct link to her mother and father but the man has a link first to another box of himself and then to his mother and father. Can anybody explain why this happens.

It sounds like you might have a duplicate family record which sometimes occurs when you merge data and forget to check the Family Matches.

The video below explains how to sort it.

No I don't appear to have a duplicate record.

Are you doing an All relatives diagram? If so are you using Flat format? If this is the case it's probably just a proxy box. See the description in the help for more information.

Yes using all relatives. Don't know what "Flat Format" means.

Is it is a transparent box with a dotted border and only the Individal name?

This is a proxy box, not a duplicate entry.

The idea is to show the proxy box in situ amongst siblings, whilst showing the full box adjacent to their spouse.
It often happens to both spouses when their family is more complex.
