adding Lat/Long, Standardised places +their Notes to Reports

Post by jimlad68 » 29 Dec 2014 05:45

I hope this is a daft question, but now we have Latitude, Longitude, Standardised places and Notes for Places, how do we include them in reports? Diagrams yes, Queries yes, but the only way I have found to include them in say an Individual Report is in options by adding a new label in the Main section with expressions like:
%INDI.DEAT[1]% %INDI.DEAT[1].PLAC>NOTE2[1]% %INDI.DEAT[1].PLAC>LATLONG%.

As regards the Individual narrative reports I suspect the same is true but I can't work out how to do it either from within the report settings or fact sentences. I'm sure I read somewhere that V6 sentence templates would use Data Reference and Functions. Has anyone an example to get me going? I looked in the help but could not find any "full/complete" examples, I suspect/ hope I am just missing some minor formatting that an example would make obvious.

Anyway, is this the method for any none standard report options? Although very flexible, it would take a long time to add all data.

OK, as part of this I would really like a report (like the Individual Report) that shows absolutely everything about an individual that includes things like Latitude, Longitude Standardised places and Notes for Places (basic details for close relatives is enough and I am not worried about narrative). I think the nearest thing to that I can find is the Webside/CD/DVD report.

Essentially Jim, you are correct about Reports, they do need enhancing for Place details.

There is some Help about using Data Refs and Functions in sentence Templates under Tools > Fact Types > Edit > << Inseret Code > How to use advanced features... towrds the bottom.

I do not understand your final comment, because the ...(for Web, CD or DVD) reports are identical to their Family Group Sheet and Individual Summary counterparts, they simply allow you to keep a different set of options for use with the Web/CD/DVD Wizard.

thanks Mike, at least for confirmation.

I mentioned Webside/CD/DVD report as being a good example because it seemed to encompass so much, well laid out and easy to browse, but still no detail re Place details. If that is all that is missing that's nice to know, but it would still be onerous to add to all Fact Place notes.

Perhaps this is something to at least put on the wish list and even advise Calico Pie, I suppose it is not technically a fault.

I have added it to the list of Issues for Calico Pie to consider for FH6 updates.
