Hi, I intend to upload my tree to the internet. Do I have to convert the linked faces to normal pictures first? If so, how ? I have a lot of them and am afraid of messing things up.
Tx

Re: convert linked faces
Welcome to the FHUG.
Try the Export Gedcom File Plugin that is designed for the job.
It has default options for many popular genealogy programs and can convert Face Frames to cropped standalone images.
Which particular Internet utility are you considering?

Tx for your reply. I did not know you needed a plugin to do the job. I have tested it and this is indeed what I was looking for. Thank you!
BTW I have not choosen yet which internet site to use (Geni.com, gendroid, MyHeritage, Geneanet). They all seem to ask money and I am not yet a regular user.

Re: convert linked faces
I think FindMyPast and Ancestry allow GEDCOM trees to be uploaded for free, but do NOT include media images.

Re: convert linked faces
Findmypast tree is completely free, (no limits on number of people or images uploaded). Normal GEDCOM import does not generally include image files but does references so it creates image slots with all the referenced data. You can then use the ZIP upload from the Media page under settings to load your images. This upload will try to match the images against the "blank" image slots the GEDCOM created and re linking to all the places you would expect in your tree. If the GEDCOM import had facial coordinates for a person within an image, the ZIP upload will also detect these and correctly pick out the profiles for the people.
I haven't tried the plugin, so I will take a look at that.
Hope this helps

Re: convert linked faces
That is a really useful tip Philip. I had no idea such a capability existed.
I looked in the Help & Advice and all I could find was how to upload a GEDCOM without images, and how to add images individually.
If the Export Gedcom File Plugin needs adapting for FindMyPast to make it easy to include Media images, and perhaps even Face/Detail Frames, then as the author I am happy to help.
