F6 Fact Sentence Templates

Post by tatewise » 16 Dec 2014 14:53

FH V6 has added many new features to the Fact sentence Templates, so they will probably be explored by users more than in the past.

I believe they need a detailed review to eliminate inconsistencies that may upset Narrative Reports. Some were spotted during Beta testing, but here are a few more.
  • Misplaced Spaces
If components can be empty they are enclosed in < chevrons > to define the text to be omitted, e.g.
    {individual} was born {date} {place} <({age})>
If no {age} the ( parentheses ) must also be omitted.
However, if another sentence is added, e.g.
    {individual} was born {date} {place} <({age})><. {note}>
The fullstop may be preceded by a rogue space character:
He was born in 1900 in London . Note his age is unknown.
This is because the Template should be:
    {individual} was born {date} {place}< ({age})>
with the space before ({age}) inside the chevrons.
  • Formatting Codes FIXED in 6.0.3
<br> and <para> can be inserted to adjust sentence layout, but if added at the beginning or end of the Template can have odd side effects on the superscript cross-reference numbers to Sources. They are either too close to the following sentence, or overlay the start of the line and the next line is indented.
