V6 and gedcom file

Post by icabod999 » 11 Dec 2014 16:37

Just upgraded to version 6 and very pleased until I tried to upload gedcom file produced by program into Ged famies Sync and Ged view.
Ged Families Sync gave error "encoding is not supported" and Ged view gave error "Level expected but not found at line 1"

This only happens using gedcom files from V6. Both programs work fine with Gedcom files from V5.

Suggestions appreciated

Family Historian now stores it's gedcom file in full Unicode 16 format, you may need to export back to ANSI for the other programs to work directly. It's probably worth checking with the other programs authors to see what Gedcom file formats they support.

Try the Export Gedcom File Plugin that is designed for this very scenario.
