I don't know if there is something obvious I am missing, but I cannot find a way to EXCLUDE PLACes in Reports or even to use shorter formats (except for more than 1 instance), although there is an option to ADD ADDResses. The only fix for this I have found is for narrative reports where the sentence template can be amended. The main use I would see for this would be to use the ADDRess instead of the PLACe or at least be able to use a shortened PLACe.
I'm not too sure I should worry too much about this as I suspect FH V6 will create a much more flexible use of the comma separated features of PLACe/ADDRess, but no hint of a date yet for FH V6 yet, although I suspect the discontinuance of The Master Genealogist (TMG) will give a greater urgency with the rumours that FH V6 will include WITNESSES.

Re: EXCLUDE PLACes in Reports
You are correct, there is no option to totally exclude PLACes from Reports.
Narrative Reports have the Use Short Form for Repeated Place Names option:
Narrative Reports have the Use Short Form for Repeated Place Names option:
But this may only be effective when only a few PLACe columns, and not if there are more than say 4 columns. If checked, place names are only given in full the first time they are mentioned within each section. Thereafter only the first part of the place name is given. If this option is not checked, place names are always given in full.
