I have got as far as opening PAF on windows 8 and newly downloaded Rootsmagic. One click then brought up a descendency layout with one unknown name at the apex. I thought importing would be automatic? I cannot re type all my years of data collecting into new programme! Surely importing should be automatic?
PS . I have 31 paf files listed, from 2001 to present. Maybe this first one was just a broken link?
Would the purchased version be a better programme?
Thank you to anyone who can rescue me?

Re: From PAF to Rootsmagic
This site is dedicated to Family Historian Software, but I would have thought Roots Magic should have a File Import option some where to bring in Gedcom files. We don't use Roots Magic here as we all think Family Historian is a better program.

Re: From PAF to Rootsmagic
You are on the Family Historian User Group forum.
You make no mention of FH in your post only PAF and Rootsmagic.
If this is about FH you will have to repost with a proper description otherwise you will need to go to Rootsmagic support.
