Importing from another genealogy program? This is the place to ask. Questions about Exporting should go in the Exporting sub-forum of the General Usage forum.

Apple I-pad Mini

Post by mharmour » 26 Dec 2013 16:57

I have FH version 5 and have recently bought the new Apple ipad mini. How do I get my FH software on to the ipad? Is there anyone who can tell me in simple words! Any help would be great. Mary

In short you can't run family historian on an I pad or I pad mini. However what you can do is view the gedcom file that family historian creates in another app.

Personally I first imported the gedcom file into an app called Gedview but that was fiddle. I gave now imported into Ancestry using the Ancestry app. However I think you have to be or have been a subscriber to do that. It has the advantage of flagging up hints for records that might be useful.

I'm sure there are other apps that may let you view the gedcom file

I recommend having a look at Heredis on the iPad. It is free and will import your FH Gedcom. I prefer it to both Gedview and Ancestry.

Thanks. The ancestry route seems the easiest. Thanks again!
