Census

Post by saban » 30 Oct 2013 11:42

I shall shortly be looking at census returns starting with 1911. I have signed up with Ancestry and hopefully will be using that. Is there a download preformat that I could use for recording the information that I find?
I have looked at the downloads in FHUG but there is so much I am somewhat confused.
Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

The best add-on for entering new Census data (and Baptisms & Marriages too) is Ancestral Sources (AS).
Follow the link for download and tutorials, including some animated tutorials.

AS is widely used by many FHUG members, and is written by a FHUG member Nick Walker.
It even has its own Forum : Ancestral Sources, which is where any questions about its use should be posted.

You finish up with the Census data in FH just as if you had entered it directly into FH, but AS simplifies the task.
