FTP Website Manager

Post by uktony » 09 Sep 2013 18:08

I have just downloaded this plug in. On first run, as expected, it prompted me to download various other modules.

Clearly not everything worked (though I must admit I wasn't paying much attention at the time) as I now get this error when trying to run the plugin.

I have deleted and reinstalled, to no avail.

Any ideas what I can do next?

Many thanks in anticipation

For some reason the downloads of the modules does not seem to have worked.

If you open the plugins folder in the location shown in the error, there should be a folder called socket, md5, try deleting it and any files which end .lua rather than .fh_lua, also please make sure you are running 5.0.9 of FH

Thanks Jane

I deleted the folders socket and md5 and a couple of files ending in .lua and have reinstalled the plugin.

When running for the first time I get the error

"COM exception:(\src\library\tLua.COM.cpp,394): the server has returned an invalid or unrecognized response. No changes have been made to the data records."

I can see that a folder luasql has been created within plugins but it is empty.

I am running 5.09

Any further help gratefuly received.

Tony

Very strange, it's like it's struggling to download the modules from the FH site.

Can you delete all subfolders from the plugin folder and the .lua files again and if possible run the program in debug mode so we can work out what line number in the program it's failing at.

If it helps, I have renamed all the old folders and Plugin, and downloaded, installed and run Plugin OK on Windows 7.
If I disconnect the Broadband Server, then the Plugin fails at about line 425 with a similar response from luacom:
"COM exception:(\src\library\tLua.COM.cpp,394): Operation timed out.

Is it something unique to Windows XP?
Is the Internet connection very slow?

I did wonder whether it was an internet issue.

I will try again tonight when I have access to a faster connection.

Thanks

all-current-lua-modules.zip
(442.76 KiB) Downloaded 249 times
I have packed all the modules required into the zip file, please put the contents of the z-module folder into the plugins folder and see if the FTP plugin still fails. It does sound like something on the PC is blocking the downloads, an over zealous anti-virus perhaps?

Jane

I think we have lift off.

When I run the plug in I get the "change settings" dialogue box - not something I've got as far as before.

If only I could remember the settings (will have to check when I get home!)

Anyway, looking good, so thank you.

The advantage with using the plugin, is when you need to update, it should only upload pages where the contents have changed.

I'm pleased about that

Nearly 5 hours in and I have uploaded only a third of the files.

Perhaps I need to change my broadband provider.

I suspect the problem is the FTP uploader is single threaded, I can't think of a way around that at the moment though and FTP is not the best way to upload thousands of files, if you have shell access to your web space zipping the whole lot and uploading the zip and then unpacking it would be quicker. The plugin should plod through and do them all though eventually.

As you have so many pages another option is to look at using TNG or similar, which is what I do for my site. Using PHP and a database is more work to start with but you only have to upload a gedcom and image files.
