Well I have taken the plunge and ordered my FH from Amazon, should arrive soon. Deceided on FH after seeing this site and realizing how much support there is. Does anyone have any tips for me as I am very new to all this, my interest triggered by a conversation with my father in law a few years ago. (He was bought up by 4 maiden ladies none of whom he was related to and he changed his name by deed poll on joining the army at onset WW2)[img][/img]

I am still a relative newbie With family Historian having got the program ( from amazon ) in april this year.
I tried the free download first and had a play with it to see what sort of things it could do and whether it all seemed logical From what I saw i knew that it would do what i wanted it to do so I bought with confidence.
Like most new software I get I dived straight in and startted building my tree. Ok I did a reasonable job but it could have been so much easier If I had read the Manual.
The best advice I can give is to print of the manual..OK its over 100 pages but it reall is worth it.
Having printed the manual go through the tutorial.
They really are very good and do help you understand how things work....OK you wont remember it all and like with most windows programmes there is more than one way of doing things but you will get to see just what Family Historian can do for you.
Any way good luck with building your tree.

Also you might like to watch the How To's in the links section here. Some are for more advanced topics, but you might find the ones for entering data from a birth cert and multimedia linking useful.
