I have read through past forum entries and am just as confused as ever. Let us take a simple marriage - I can find that it occurred in Wandsworth Dec 1877 and the ref is 1a789 - how do I enter that information - the fields do not seem to be appropriate - how do others do it? Automatic citation is just as confusing. I have read the pdf manual and am none the wiser.

For GRO/FreeBMD source information, I have a source of GRO, the 'where in source' is the index reference eg

Dec 1877 Q1 Wandsworth 1a789

As this is only an secondary source. I list it as such until I can get the certificate.

Have you watched the Entering data from a Birth Certificate in the Links, How To section this demonstrates using automatic citation.
