Adoptions

Post by dolbyjones » 29 Jul 2003 23:07

I have a query regarding half-siblings. I have come across 2 instances where individuals mothers have remarried. I have created the individual as being the child of the first marriage, and adopted by the second marriage, however in the events tab for the mother both the birth and the adoption are shown twice (They are only shown once in the events tab of the child and the father.)
I hope the above makes sense, it all became a bit confusing.
Thanks
Steve.
P.S.
I have read back over the previous postings and have been very impressed with the level of support. Keep up the good work.

I can understand why the adoption show for the mother, as in GEDCOM the adoption is to the family group rather than to the individuals, I can not think how to deal with it other than what you have done though. I suggest simply adding a private note to yourself about why there is an adoption.

Please remember I am only a user not someone who works for Calico.

Steve - you're doing the right thing.  The fact that the birth and adoption are shown twice in the Property Dialog is a bug in Family Historian. You will also find a similar bug in that if you display a descendant diagram for the mother with spouses hidden, the children will be shown twice there too.  I will try to make sure these are fixed in the next release.
