Hi first time using 'Books'. I wish to show both Portrait sized images for people as well as the Group Photo that they were 'snipped' from in the Ancestor and Descendant narrative report.
Hence a photo of James Smith's face goes with his record as well as a larger family photo of John Smith, James Smith, Sara Jones and Steve Hilldrop taken at a wedding that James' portrait image was taken from.
any ideas please?

You could simply attach the whole image as well, but I would probably add Multimedia reports for them to the end of the book.

Thanks - I'm adding a multimedia report as you suggested, however when I look at images either in individual report or multimedia report I'm only shown head portraits. Can't find the option to 'view as whole picture'

To double check this, on the Records Window Multimedia tab, expand a whole photo Multimedia Record and it should have multiple Link/Note entries, one per link.
If the latter, then the whole group photo should appear in the Multimedia Report above all the Link to Face head portraits derived from that group photo.
In Narrative Reports and Individual Summary Reports you are partly correct.
The only way to include whole group photos, amongst the head portraits and the same size as them, is to link the whole photo to the Multimedia tab of one of the Individuals whose portrait uses Link to Face.
Also in the Report Options > Picture tab increase Max Pics as necessary, so multiple photos are included.
In Family Group Sheet Reports the whole photo is only included if it is linked to the Family Record on the Multimedia tab.
Can you confirm that you don't really mean 'snipped' using an external photo editor, but using the FH Edit Media Item photo Link to Face feature....the Group Photo that they were 'snipped' from...

Dear Mike
Very comprehensive answer thanks. Of course I started with FH scanning in just faces until I realised (probably with latter versions) that I should use the group and then link the faces with FH - it is great.
So I have both externally clipped and correctly FH handled photos - thanks for showing me how to check the status of these in the multimedia window.
I think I am fine now - many thanks - consider this question answered.[smile]

For the benefit of others, I believe FH had the Link to Face feature from V2.0 and at least by V3.0 released on 28th March 2006.

I'm creating my first book, and am running into a similar problem - is there a way I can insert a specific image (a multimedia record) without all the stuff that comes with a multimedia report. Granted, I can turn it all off, but since I'm doing a number of these I would have to do that every time.
There are some of these pictures that are landscape - is there any way of inserting the image as landscape, or shall I just go with the option of saving as an RTF and then inserting it and making it fit?

You know how to turn off all the stuff you don't want, so having done that once, use Save Report As > Custom Report Type and give it a memorable Custom Report Name.
Then you can use Publish > Custom Reports and choose that Custom Report Name over and over again whenever you want, with different media each time.
I think the only way to display a Landscape image rotated to a fit a Portrait page, is to rotate the image file using a photo editor outside FH.
Perhaps make a copy of the image and have a Portrait version of the Multimedia Record keeping the original intact.
Otherwise, as you say it needs an RTF post-edit.

Ahah. Many thanks for that - I might stick it in as a custom report, and tidy (and rotate) when I get to the RTF, might be the least work in the end.
