Diagram Text
A LONG time ago you helped me to design a format within a diagram which showed the baptism date if there was no birthdate, and the burial date if there was no death date - this seems to have changed and no longer includes the burial part. Can you help me find it, please! Jeremy

Re: Diagram Text
I suspect the LONG ago advice is in these postings:
Diagram Text (7322) May 2006
Diagram Text (7584) Jan 2007
See also fhugdownloads:contents:birth_or_baptism_marr_death_or_burial_text_scheme|> Diagram Text Scheme ~ Birth or Baptism, Marr, Death or Burial (Superseded)
but note that it is Superceded because the current default Birth, Marr, Death scheme already does what you ask.
Also, you talk about showing Baptism/Burial when no Birth/Death Date, but the examples seem to cater for a missing Birth/Death Event rather just the Date.

Re: Diagram Text
I see, so I have to delete the birth or death EVENT to achieve what I want? Jeremy

Re: Diagram Text
No, not necessarily.
I am just clarifying what you were happy with in the past compared with what you are requesting now.
What exactly do you require to be missing from Birth/Death Events in order to substitute Baptism/Burial Events?
Obviously, if the whole event is missing.
Also if the Event exists but the Date is missing.
What about the Place?
Or for Death the Cause?
e.g.
The following Birth Template will only display anything if there is a Date:
=CombineText("Born: ",%INDI.BIRT.DATE:COMPACT%,CombineText(" in ",%INDI.BIRT.PLAC:TIDY%,,),)
So when no Birth Date the Baptism Event will get displayed.

Re: Diagram Text
Diagram > Options > Text > Edit > Birth > Edit > Template = expression given yesterday.
Same for Death > Edit > Template = same expression except BIRT becomes DEAT in two places.
It would be better to keep the Birth, Death, Marr or whatever standard Text Scheme you are using unadulterated.
So after Diagram > Options > Text select the scheme and use Clone to create a custom copy.
Then use Edit > Birth > Edit > Template and similarly for Death > Edit > Template.
