* Media file naming

I have added a media file to a record but then deleted it from the record and deleted the file on pc.
I then create another file of the same name on PC and link it to the record
The file is always save as (2) "in order to make it differ from existing file"
The original file does not show in the record list, just the file named (2)
How do I rename the files to exclude the (2) or does FH hold the deleted file names in its memory.

I suspect you did not delete the file from the media folder in your Project.

Family Historian does not delete the media when you delete the media record.

You can either open the media folder with in your Project folder in Windows File explorer, to delete the file
or
you can download, install and run the Check for Unlinked Media plugin
