I have turned them on. Not sure I have the sound right.

If anyone wants to turn them off go to the user control panel and select Board Preferences.

Love the lights but didn't get any sound Jane.
Still lovely and festive, thanks Jane
Wishing everyone on the forum a very happy Christmas and successful searching in 2020.
A very special thank you to Mike, Jane, Lorna and those who are happy to give their time and patience to help those of us who struggle with technology.

In Firefox = To turn on the sound click on the area where the lights are. It will turn off again when you change pages.

I thought last year we agreed to have an option to turn off the sound. I REALLY hate it, it's incredibly loud at my default volume level.
I can't see any option on the User Control Panel.
I'm using Chrome.
Thanks Jane.

Edit: Just saw the Switch Sound link in the top left corner. Has no effect for me.

Right-click on the tab and choose Mute site.

That works for both Chrome and Firefox.

When I had to rebuild the site, all the extensions had to be rebuilt, as you can now turn off the lights completely in the user control panel I assumed anyone who found them annoying could simply turn them off completely.

Jane, the option to turn them off doesn't appear in the User Control Panel for anyone still using the Marina Orange theme.

I'm on Chrome but don't have any sound. Have looked at control panel and lights are checked. Sorry Mark I love the sound gets rid of frustrations going along smashing them! Jane mentioned Firefox but don't know anything about that.

If still use the old theme and want to turn them off, swap to one of the other themes change the settings and save and then swap back to the other theme.

The Switch Sound link should work now.

The sound works fine in Chrome on my PC. You might need to clear your cookies for FHUG and make sure you don't have it set to block sounds played by default

Have to say I love them. Never noticed sound before, but I think they are great.

Thanks to all that help those less fortunate in ability on FH!

This morning it took a deal of resetting to get sound on both Firefox and on Chrome.
What seemed to work was clearing cookies, refreshing web page, and disabling then enabling lights via the User Control Panel.

OK, thanks Jane. I did as you suggested and swapped themes and turned it off.
The sound is so loud and jarring on my system it makes me jump and flinch every time. I know it's not a popular choice but I REALLY hate them - sorry.
But all good now. Thanks again for finding the solution to remove them for me.

If you are using Firefox there is an add-in called "Mute sites by default" - also stops autoplay videos in things like twitter feeds
