Colin, can you change the protocol from https to http -- I had thought we'd got it working with https but may be wrong.

Helen

I extracted the zip file and copied the entire help file folder into the .dat folder. It works perfectly.

This is what I now have in the dat folder:

That's exactly what you should have. I'm stumped as to why the plugin doesn't download it.

Ron, sorry to hear you've been in hisotital -- hope you're on the mend now.

A few questions:

1. What operating system are you running?
2. Does the download work if you change the protocol in the lua from https to http?
3. Can you download and extract the file manually as Valkrider did?

The screenshot posted by Ron suggests a COM exception problem with secure channel support.
Maybe this is to do with https needing lua SSL sockets provided by the LuaSec library and not luacom.
The LuaSec library is not available for FH and I requested Calico Pie to investigate months ago, but without progress.
I wonder if the download works or not depending on whether the user is logged in or not?
However, I have just tried both modes in Windows 10 and it worked both ways.
But maybe the OS matters too? Or just clutching at straws!

I am on windows 7 64 bit, you have two https: one at 1543 and one at 3037 and have tried to flip them both, one at a time, together, not at all, and no change, havent done a manual yet.

mending fine, they just cut some meanness out of me.

Mike, I'm glad I'm not the only one clutching at straws!

And nobody should apologize for being late to the party! It's a long lasting party to ensure the plugin is valuable to as many people as possible. (Once it's released -- and fH version 7 is available -- I'll ask for more suggestions to improve it).

I have attached a later version to the original post viewtopic.php?f=42&t=17189&p=95554#p95554 which relies on http rather than https -- if people are willing to try this, I would be grateful.

P.S Ron, meaness is always something to be rid off -- wish they could do the same for my heart (heart failure) but I doubt it would improve things; a heart beating however imperfectly is better than the alternative.

Just to avoid doubt, after using Research Planner Help 2.0.zip right-click Extract All the sub-folder Research Planner Help 2.0 should contain 83 items in total with the first few as shown below.

It may be coincidence, but all the problems seem to occur on Windows 7 systems, and I suspect that includes the Mac emulators like Crossover that tend to use Windows 7 bottles.

Yes, you download Research Planner Help 2.0.zip file into the Research Planner.dat folder, and then right-click that zip file and choose Extract All and select the Research Planner.dat folder as the destination.
The extraction process should create the Research Planner Help 2.0 sub-folder with 83 items inside.

Correct, there is only Research Planner.cfg and Research Planner.fhf and Research Planner Help 2.0 sub-folder in the Research Planner.dat folder.
The .chm file has been replaced in this version by the Research Planner Help 2.0 sub-folder containing HTML help files.

Another thought ~ is it possible that the Internet Explorer shell in Windows 7 is not compatible with the HTML help files? Similar to problems we sometimes get with FH internal windows not working with old IE shell versions.

:D :D :D :D

I have just deleted the plugin and the plugin folder from the .dat folder. Downloaded the version from the first post. That has installed fine on my laptop running Crossover. The helpfile downloaded and runs.

I don't believe that it is a Windows 7 problem as I updated my VM on my iMac yesterday to Windows 10 and still had the same issue with the help file when trying a reinstall after deleting everything. That was with yesterdays version not todays. I won't be able to check the iMac until next week to confirm that it is fixed in VirtualBox with Win 10.

Hope this helps.

Would it be possible for those who are getting errors to clarify -- is it the download failing or the extraction.) Post a screenshot of the error message please, if you haven't already done so.

Also, can people try the Download report button on the Tools tab and report back whether the report was installed successfully -- it might he;lp me work out if the problem is 'all downloads' or just the help zip file.

The report installs fine. in my case, w764 the .dat file has cfg and fhf.

https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 189#p95595 same as Valkrider.

If I manually download and unzip the 2.0 help folder, when I go into the program, hit help, nothing occurs.

Exactly the same, Ron, with underscores in the file names?

Can you post a screenshot of your .dat directory (picture worth 1000 words).
