Microsoft SyncToy v2.1 for Windows 10

Post by David2416 » 17 Dec 2017 08:21

HI,

Has anyone had experience of using Microsoft SyncToy 2.1 for Windows 10 in synchronising FH between networked desktop and laptop?

I have successfully migrated FH from the Desktop to the Laptop using the instructions Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide

Regards

David

David

I used to use it but now use FreeFileSync (https://www.freefilesync.org/) I find it more flexible and it works on Windows and Mac. However, I have never used either for doing what you suggest with Family Historian.

Hi,

Thanks for replying. I've backed up to Google Drive and set up SyncToy. I use the Desktop at home and the laptop when out and about, I don't want to rely on internet connections. From my tests it seems to work OK in both directions. Work on one machine, synchronise, and then carry on on the second machine. Taking regular snapshots (not synchronised) as I go along.

Regards

David
