Research forms confusion

Post by RichardBtn » 09 Dec 2017 06:45

I've just discovered a rich new source of family information in South Africa and want to request data in a simple and effective way using email. I thought preformatted research forms would be the way but looking online I have found a bewildering array of them in literally all forms (pardon the pun) and styles. Many of them also seem to be in PDF format which is difficult to fill in on screen unless you have the right software.

Is there any recommended source(s) for research forms that can be emailed to a person, filled in on screen using a basic word processor and returned? I would be grateful for any help and guidance in this matter, if only to stop my head spinning! :?

Many thanks.

I can't help with choice of forms, but can help with the technology of PDF & word-processing.

There are plenty of free PDF to Word converters, mostly online.
Just Google search for free PDF to Word converter.

Also many of the free PDF Readers offer a way of overlaying text onto a PDF document.
I use the free Nitro PDF Reader which is good for filling in forms.
