Outdoor Relief Fact
Hi, I'm struggling to find a fact for the above, any ideas? I'm not too great at using custom facts so I'm a bit stuck. Many thanks, Jane

Re: Outdoor Relief Fact
Your earlier posting Newspapers fact (14847) gives some useful tips.
Think about whether you just need a Source record for the Outdoor Relief details and Standard Facts gleaned from it.
Otherwise, perhaps a generic Poor Law Relief fact (similar to the Newspaper fact) may also be needed.
If Narrative Reports are important to you, see how_to:narrative_report_fact_sentence_templates|> Narrative Report Fact Sentence Templates.

Re: Outdoor Relief Fact
I have a case where someone's occupation was recorded in a census as 'outdoor relief'. As the census is the only evidence I have, I simply allowed AS to create this as an occupation when entering the census details. I then amended the sentence in FH to read 'He was recorded as being in receipt of Outdoor Relief on...'

Re: Outdoor Relief Fact
A variant on what has been said so far, is to create a custom Income Attribute where the Attribute value is the income amount and perhaps its type, e.g. £1-2-6 Outdoor Relief or £125 pa salary.
Then the sentence would say something like:
His income was £1-2-6 Outdoor Relief on 20 Jan 1823 in London.
or
His income was £125 pa salary in 1901 in Manchester.
Then the sentence would say something like:
His income was £1-2-6 Outdoor Relief on 20 Jan 1823 in London.
or
His income was £125 pa salary in 1901 in Manchester.

Re: Outdoor Relief Fact
Many thanks to all for help with this. I've created a Custom Fact Definition Type thus:
Name: Outdoor Relief. Fact Set: Custom. Fact Type: Event
[individual] receiving [label] [date] place] ][age]
Sentence reads.
He receiving Outdoor Relief in 1837 aged 63. I need to add ' was' so I just typed it in, not sure if this is the way it should be done but it seemed to work ok!
He was receiving Outdoor Relief in 1837 aged 63

Sentence reads.

Re: Outdoor Relief Fact
Yes, that seems OK Jane.
So I presume your Fact Definition for Outdoor Relief now has the Sentence Template:
{individual} was receiving {label} {date} {place} (age}
BTW: Also its Normal Time Frame: should be Life because that relief can only be received while alive.
