FHU Mailing List Duplicates

Post by tatewise » 10 Aug 2017 17:57

The Rootsweb FHU Mailing List appears to be replicating messages as illustrated by info:mailing_list#recent_posts|> Recent Posts and I presume everyone else is getting unnecessarily repeated messages too?

Yes, some messages appear four times but some appear only once.
There is also a considerable delay in receiving some messages, judging by their time-stamp.

Also the digest mode has 1, 2 or 3 messages in it instead of the all for the day or 10 as it should. There appear to be yet more issues on the Rootsweb list.

Are we talking about family-historian-users@rootsweb.com? I'm not getting any duplicates on that list and the online archive doesn't seem to have any duplicates.

Bill, what do you see in info:mailing_list#recent_posts|> Recent Posts ?

I see 10 to do with duplicated individuals and several with identical date-time stamps.
Similarly for Updating census entries.

And I get similar duplicated messages in my Email Inbox.

However, following any of those replicated message links leads to one and the same posting. :?

Mike,

I do see the duplicates in the knowledge base article you linked to. I do have all of these messages in my inbox, but none are duplicated, only one of each.

I also do not see any duplicates in the Rootsweb Archives for that group.

That's my experience also.

I use GMail and see only one example of each mail. Maybe GMail has recognised that it's already had the mail and so discarded it?

There is certainly something odd going on because I happen to get the Digest mail as well as the individual mails - I'd forgotten that because I just send it into the Bin. But I see 8 Digest mails from FHU on 10 August - some of the Digests duplicate others exactly, and some mails appear in more than one Duplicate set...
