Page Layout for Source Document Media

Post by BobWard » 19 Jan 2017 21:18

I am trying to figure out a way to get the images of my Source documents to display in the center of the page, rather than being oriented to the left side of the page.

A picture is attached to show what I mean. I want to get this image to display in the center of the page, not along the left side. A picture of my current Report Options> Sources tab is also shown. I have not been able to find a combination of formatting settings to do what I want.

Is it possible to get Source document images centered on the page?

No, there is no centre image option in FH.
The best you could do is to set Height: 11" and Width: 8" so image fills page.
The only other option is to edit in a word-processor after using Save Report As > Word-Processor Document.

Was afraid that might be the situation. Thanks for the confirmation anyway.

Looking at your options. Following Mike set the maximum picture width to 8", select Enlarge Small pictures to maximum width then click the gaps box and add a gap of 1" to left and right. This should give you a centered image 6" wide. You may have to tweak the settings to get it right.

Excellent David, I had overlooked the Gaps button.

It does not matter much what Height and Width you set as long as they are large, and you tick Enlarge Small Pictures.

Just set the Gap to Left and Gap to Right to same value such as 1" or 2" and the images are centred.

I will add that tip to the how_to:report_options:sources|> Report Options ~ Sources Tab advice.

Excellent tip, David, thanks. The suggested "Gap" option does give me a lot of flexibility to adjust the image location to my liking.

I did notice that your suggested settings did center most of my images, however, a couple were slightly off-center, possibly due to the different aspect ratios of some of the images. A couple also got shrunk a little as well, and, in one case, it placed 2 images on the same page, whereas they were previously on individual pages. But, I am certainly not complaining, this is way better than before, and, with a little bit of experimenting on the gap dimensions, I will be able to get it customized to something I will be happy with.

BTW, I will be printing my ISR reports on 9x12 paper. So far, the only way that I have found to see the results of changing paper size (and margins), is to actually print a FH pdf report (which allows one to set paper size) and see what it looks like. Is there any way to set paper size in the Report Options window? This would allow one to see the finished product on-screen (within FH), without having to print a pdf report first.

Great forum here.

The Printer Setup Button on the right hand side of the report should enable you to choose the size you want and is reflected in the preview, although not obvious since the preview is expanded to fir the screen I think..

Yes, use the Printer Setup and choose whatever Printer and Paper settings you need and they will be used to present the on screen Report.

Thanks again. Can't believe I did not notice or try the Printer Setup button before. All is well now!
