Lookup Missing Census Facts
I have just run this plugin. The result set shows 1939 census as missing for a number of my relatives to whom I have had added 1939 census using AS.
Any suggestions.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
I presume you have used the AS 1939 Template with date 29 Sep 1939.
For the relatives in question is there a Census Event dated 29 Sep 1939?
Do you mean the Result Set, or do you mean the browser window titled:
U. K. Census Records 1790 - 1939 are missing for selected Individuals
The Result Set lists everyone with a missing Census for any year.
Only the browser window identifies which Census years are actually missing.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
I have just had a thought.
What Place is recorded for those Census Events?
Does it include the country England or Wales?
If not, then the Plugin does not know it is an English / Welsh 1939 Census/Register.
You may find the same problem for the 1911 Census Events.
Whereas, the earlier 1841 to 1901 Census Events can also have Scotland, UK or U.K. in the Place to satisfy the Plugin.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
If it really is ENGLAND and not England then that is the cause, because the Plugin is currently case-sensitive.
Also, it must either have no Place parts before or after, or must be preceded and succeeded with a comma and space.
i.e. Typically Town, County, England or perhaps Town, County, England, UK but NOT Town, County,ENGLAND
Interestingly, nobody has encountered that sort of problem before, but I could make the Plugin case-insensitive and more tolerant of various combinations of preceding and succeeding commas and spaces.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
Mike,
A thought just occurred to me I probably used the downloaded template as you suggested when the 1939 Register first appeared (see below). NOT the template as included with the latest 5.1.3 version of AS.

Courtesy of Irene Blackburn, I've added a UK 1939 Register template to the downloads, but it will need a KB update before it appears in the Download AS Templates index:
Knowledge Base > Ancestral Sources Template ~ Census UK 1939 Register
A revised Tools > Fact Type > Census > Edit > Sentence Template: could be:
{individual} appeared in the {=TextIf(GetDisplayText(%FACT.DATE%,min) = "29 September 1939","register","census")} {date} {place} {age}
which tests the Census Fact Date and if 29 September 1939 then displays register but otherwise displays census as in original narrative sentence.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
As I said before, it does not matter how the Census Event was created, only that it exists with Date of 29 Sept 1939 and a Place that contains England or Wales (but not ENGLAND or WALES).

I have been trying some experiments with the Plugin, and cannot repeat your symptoms, and cannot imagine what is happening.
Please post a screen-shot of the Facts tab of the Property Box for the Census in Worthing R.D., Sussex, England.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
I have to admit that so far I am baffled.
I have replicated the key facts from your screenshot and it works OK here.
In the Plugin option Choose the Individuals to Search: I choose Anyone via the Select Records dialogue, and with only that person selected, the Plugin does not supply a browser window at all, but just a Memo message box saying No U.K. Census Records 1790 - 1939 are missing.
I presume you are a regular user of the Plugin and have had no problems before.
Could you attach a sreenshot of your browser window where it indicates the 1939 Census is missing for that particular Individual.

Mike,
Running the plugin as you set out I get the same message box saying that no 1939 census are missing.
I was running it with All relations of the individual selected then the browser reports it is missing. See attached.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
I am still baffled, but there is one apparent inconsistency that I think needs explaining.
The browser window says the family is ...of Geoffrey Vivien COLES and Mildred Walker SCOTT.
Whereas the Facts tab says Marriage to Molly SCOTT.
Are Mildred Walker SCOTT and Molly SCOTT both the same person?
If so, why are their names different in the two screenshots?
I presume you have checked that Record Id [76] does match the chosen Individual for the Plugin. Clearly the names and lifedates match, but may be there is a duplication, and the one in the browser window is a relation of the one chosen in the Plugin.

These are my Mother and Father. My Mum was always referred to as Molly and I have her Nickname as Molly.
These individuals are not duplicated an my tree. Record 76 is consistent throughout FH, AS and the Result Set.
There are several other individuals in my tree that report a missing 1939 census and they were all input at the same time.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
OK, I will have to dig a bit deeper, although still baffling.
But what is strange is the Plugin correctly says the 1939 Census is NOT missing when only one Individual (your father) is selected.
Can you confirm that the same is true for the others, by selecting one Individual at a time.
BTW: I have set a wife's Nickname, but the Facts tab still says Marriage to her primary name, so have you customised the Fact Type definition for the Marriage Event to display Nicknames?

I have tested 6 individuals using Anyone via the Selected records dialogue all report no UK Census Records 1790-1939 missing for selected individuals
2 of them correctly pick up other missing census' which occurred whilst they were overseas.
It seems that all plugin options work correctly except All Relations of a chosen person

The reason Molly appears in my Father's Marriage fact is because I have also set the Given Name Used to Molly incorrectly.

I admit I am running out of straws to grasp, so please try deleting that Plugin from the Plugins window (right-click on its name and choose Delete) then download and install again from Plugin Store to see if that is any different.

Tested my Dad again with the reloaded Plugin. FH crashed at he first attempt and the only Plugin option to report incorrectly was All Relations of a chosen person at the second attempt.
So nothing changed.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
Try running File > Validate and Tools > Find Uncategorised Data to see if they reveal anything untoward.
One other straw is to reinstall FH V6.1.4 over the existing installation.
If that does not improve things, I will have to write a version of the Plugin with diagnostics to trace what is going on.

I have run File > Validate and Tools > Find Uncategorised Data. Resulting in Zero problems and a blank list.
Do you mean reinstall FH V6.1.4 upgrade. I have been upgrading from V 2.1 and do not know where to find the last full version if I ever had one.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
Yes, just reinstall the latest free upgrade V6.1.4 available from the Calico Pie store.
Regarding reinstallion from scratch, you should always be aware of how to do that in case your PC or disk drive crashed. Have you all the necessary installation files/CD and licence keys?
However, Calico Pie have been kind to its users recently, and you do NOT have to install from V2.1. You only need the FH V6.0 Upgrade that you purchased, plus the V6 licence details and the V5 licence details, as explained in how_to:reinstall_family_historian|> Family Historian Installation Advice and subsidiary advice.

Re: Lookup Missing Census Facts
Having slept on it overnight, this morning I had one of those eureka moments.
The answer is in my own Plugin plugins:help:lookup_missing_census:user_options|> Help & Advice page, "Doh!".
Sorry I put you through all those hoops yesterday, when the answer was right in front of me!
The answer is in my own Plugin plugins:help:lookup_missing_census:user_options|> Help & Advice page, "Doh!".
The explanation is that when less than 1,000 Individual records need to be searched, the Plugin checks every Fact, but to reduce search time, when more than 1,000 it stops checking Facts at one that post-dates the Census it is looking for. So if not in Date order the new Census Events are overlooked. If Census Events have just been added by Ancestral Sources, use Tools > Re-order Out-of-Sequence Data before running the Plugin.
Sorry I put you through all those hoops yesterday, when the answer was right in front of me!
