New Laptop install V6

Post by erowland » 25 Mar 2016 23:21

Good Evening. I have V6 installed on my desktop by way of DVD disc and have been inputting data. I have purchased a new Laptop and wish to install the programme and data to the laptop so that I can operate FH on both computers. The LT does not have a DVD drive. How do I achieve this ? Rgds Edward

Hi Edward, that is a well trodden path, and is all covered in the how_to:reinstall_family_historian|> Family Historian Installation Advice.

See how_to:family_historian_installation_details|> Family Historian Installation Details that explains below the flow-chart how to use a USB memory-stick to perform an installation with no CD/DVD drive.

Also please use the how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide to ensure everything you need migrates from PC to laptop, and under its Further Advice how to migrate Ancestral Sources and how to synchronise the two PC.

Hi Mike Thank you for your help. I have successfully set up FH on the laptop and copied from the desktop. Both desktop and laptop are operating in sync- not without some initial difficulty. The Usergroup is a wonderful facility. Rgds Edward
