Christenings to Baptisms

Post by Hissey » 10 Jan 2016 16:45

I am running Family Historian 6 having imported my files from Legacy some months ago and added to them since. I have a family file of several thousand people, and have recently realised that I have a number of 'christenings' and a number of 'baptisms'. Is there any way I can merge the two and have them all as baptisms, preferably as a batch rather than individual alterations? Having the separate christening fact is playing havoc with my reports where I want them all listed as baptisms. Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is a plugin called Change Any Fact Tag. Use Tools>Plugins>Plugin Store to download it if you don't already have it.

Changing baptisms to Christenings or vice versa is one of the most commonly needed changes so these two are pre-set already. Just click the Christening to Baptism button to run the plugin. You will be shown the first change to confirm but can then click Change all the Rest to do them all at once.

Hi Lorna,

Thank you so much - plugin installed, used without any problem and no longer any christening/baptism issues.

Out of curiosity, does this plug-in go fact by fact, seeking a confirmation for each change (with an option to replace-all)?

Yes.

But it also has Value and Date and Place filters that may eliminate or reduce the number of confirmations.
