Named Lists

Post by Jessie 888 » 04 Jan 2016 15:54

Apologies but I've been trying to do this for hours.

I've done a Named List of 20 individuals with columns for birth, death and birthplace. It looks exactly what I want on my screen but I can't save it in that format to pass on to a family member. Whatever I try, it just keeps reverting to a simple list of names?
Would spend every waking hour researching my ancestry if my family and friends allowed it! ;)

See how_to:customising_record_window_columns|> Customise or Print Record Window Columns which gives you the clues.

Use Save as Query button, run that Query and on Rows tab enter Expression as =IsInList( ,["Select List"]).

That will let you create the data, and you can use the toolbar to print or save to file.

It sounds as if you have already created the Query you want, and then saved the result set to a Named List. The Named List itself is just a list of records, so as Mike says you need to print or save the columns from the Query window.

In the Query toolbar, in addition to Print and Save Results to File icons there is an icon for Copy Selected Cells. This would enable you to select and copy the entire table and paste it into a spreadsheet.

I've followed all your advice (and the tutorials) and it worked. Thank you both so much for that. I do appreciate it! :)
