Display Birthplace in Focus Window

Post by Gowermick » 02 Jan 2016 10:46

I know FH is highly customisable, but is it possible to add 'Birthplace' to the 'Birth' field for the children, alongside birth Date in the Focus window? The field is certainly big enough to accommodate it.

No, Mike, not currently.
Contrary to your comment, I doubt if that box is big enough to show the Place in full in most cases, especially if the date is not a Simple Date but is Approximate/Calculated/Estimated or a Date Range instead.

Anyway, a double-click on the Child brings them into Focus and shows the Place of Birth and Place of Death.

Thanks Mike,

I was thinking of just a short date plus abbreviated place, as full date and place can be seen in property box as you say if you need more detail.

I was thinking it could be useful when searching for a family on a census. Showing all the children's birthplace could help identify correct/matching family.

Yes, I can see it would be useful, but it would also need the Date Format to be customisable, so one of the ABBREViated options can be chosen, and the Place Format customisable, so SHORT or MEDIUM can be chosen.

The same customisations would apply to the Child Death box too.

Might also be useful to similarly customise the main Parents/Spouses box's Born and Died fields.

Why not add it to the New Wish List Requests?

Mike,

Have done as you suggested, and added it to the wish list.
Thanks
