Hi,
I am new to FH, having previously used Generations/Reunion and TMG.
I would like to know if FH can produce a "waterfall left-to-right indented box descendant" type chart/diagram where the oldest family member is positioned at the top left of a diagram/chart and subsequent generations are positioned below and indented to the right of a previous generation, with connecting lines originating from the bottom of each boxed family member to the next generation.
From my limited experience (to date) with the Descendant diagram in FH V6 I can not find how to create this type of diagram. I have created several Left-to-Right Descendant diagrams but it seems like each subsequent generation is separated into a column to the right of the previous generation, i.e. a generation can not be dragged to be vertically indented under a previous generation.
The reason I'm attempting to do this is to compress (say) 7-8 generations in a layout width of one to two A4 sheets and for maybe 10-12 A4 sheets deep/vertical. The waterfall indented descendant chart was a way of doing this, but I'm currently struggling to replicate it in FH.
Would someone be able to help me / explain please, if or how this can be done in either the standard FH software or is there a plug-in that will allow me to do it? Thank you.

I prefer Left to Right diagrams, mainly because they use much less paper, but not sure I use the waterfall.
Try these attachments to see if any help. N.B. to further save space on some diagrams I use the ADDR only, which in my database is used as an abbreviated PLACe (e.g. England greater manchester wigan becomes just Wigan because I have so many Wigans)

Have you tried the Descendant Outline Report. Select just the ancestor you want then run the report. You can adjust the generation indent to make better use of the page, in Report Options, Page Layout tab, change the Tab Width from the default 0.4" to 0.2" or even 0.1".

As a newcomer I advise you work through how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers in order to become more familiar with the features of FH.

I have just done the same thing (didn't know it was called "Waterfall"). As suggested by Davidm, use Descendant Outline Report, tick Life Dates and Connecting Lines. In Format reduce fonts to 9 point. You may need to play around with Numbering and Page Layout, but I have a 7 generation layout 1 page wide and 7 pages long.

Hi All,
I have found the suggested "Descendant Outline Report" does almost everything I wanted to do, except for placing a box around each family member (as I could do in previous apps I used) but this is not a problem as there are other sufficient formatting options in FH to help people's names stand out.
Many thanks to all (rodit, tatewise, davidm_uk and jimlad68) for your prompt and useful advice. Much appreciated.
