Family Tree Maker Tidy
I have just done a quick plugin to fix a couple of niggles with the export from FTM (I thought there was one, but I could not spot it).
This fixes
CONC on SOUR.PAGE lines and added the text to the end of the PAGE tag.
CONC on Events (written out with the wrong level) and appends it to the end of the local note.
TITL on Media records is moved up from below the FILE to be the Title for the Media record

Re: Family Tree Maker Tidy
In how_to:import_from_ancestry|> Import from Ancestry website there is a Quick Fix Plugin called Import From Ancestry that may partly apply to FTM.
In FH6 GEDCOM CONC lines not processed in FH6 application (13041) there is a Fix UDF CONC or CONT Text Plugin, but subsequent further CONC UDF are mentioned plus other UDF such as _FOOT.
I am working on an Import From Ancestry or FTM Plugin that handles all the above including the PAGE CONC UDF, etc...
Also there are many Date formats that need correcting as per FTM to FH6 date format corrections (13077). These can be handled by my Search and Replace Plugin and other techniques as explained in recently udated how_to:fixing_dates_date_phrases|> Fixing Dates and Date Phrases. I have published an update to that Plugin to Import & Export any Presets in a file, so that Presets can be downloaded from FHUG and run to fix Dates, etc.
Also there are many Fact UDF that can be corrected using the Change Any Facts Tag Plugin as explained in recently updated how_to:handling_unrecognised_data_fields|> Handling Unrecognised Data Fields.
In addition there are typically many genuine Custom Events (EVEN.TYPE), which together with the correctd Fact UDF, need many Tools > Fact Types to be created.
There is going be a lot of KB updating to do...

Jane,
A bit late, I've only just fininished clearing all my UDF's - haha.
However you might consider catching all the other 'special' tags used by FTM. The military ones immediately spring to mind. I think they were _MIL or something similar. I found I had a few of these when I added service details for individuals. I think I got rid of them by adding the details within as personal notes, then deleted the facts.

That _MILT UDF fact, and many others, are now handled in an updated how_to:handling_unrecognised_data_fields|> Handling Unrecognised Data Fields mostly by using the Change Any Fact Tags Plugin. Check out all the other issues mentioned.

Mike,
I didn't check if there was a plugin for those UDF facts specifically, but thought that if Jane was producing a plugin especially for importing from FTM, it would be a good idea to add them to it, so clearing as much rubbish as possible in one fell swoop.

Re: Family Tree Maker Tidy
The snag with such Facts is that different users may want to handle them differently. See how_to:handling_unrecognised_data_fields|> Handling Unrecognised Data Fields for examples.
e.g.
_DEG could retain Degree as in FTM, or use the standard Graduation or Education.
_MILT could retain Military as in FTM, or use the FHUG Military Fact Set Military Service.
It is also quite complex to cater for all the other subsidiary UDF within such Facts, and the Change Any Fact Tag Plugin has all that built in already. It also has confirmation and filter options to allow one Fact to be changed to two alternative Facts depending on certain criteria.

Re: Family Tree Maker Tidy
The ATTACHMENT Import From Ancestry or FTM Plugin V1.4 Date 16 Dec 2015 should cope with most FTM Gedcom problems.
Jane, does it cope with the problems that Family Tree Maker Tidy fixes?
V1.5 Date 17 Dec 2015 has been added to Quick Fix Plugins section of both how_to:import_from_ancestry|> Import from Ancestry website and how_to:import_from_family_tree_maker|> Import from Family Tree Maker (FTM).
[EDIT: The ATTACHMENT has been deleted since V2.3 Date 26 Jan 2016 is available in the Quick Fix Plugins sections above.]

Import From Ancestry or FTM Plugin
Mike,
Is your plugin the same one mentioned in Knowledge Base > Import from Family Tree Maker (FTM)? If so, the link to the plugin in that article is dead. I also couldn't find it by searching the plugins. This forum post is the only place I could find it.

Re: Family Tree Maker Tidy
Yes, that is the one, and I just tried the link, and it is working OK for me via Firefox.
I have decided not to publish specific product import fixing Plugins in the Plugin Store for the moment, because they can then be updated much quicker, and anyway they typically only get used once or twice and discarded.
See also Plugin to sort problems with FTM Imports (13157) where Ian Johnson (Barnowl) and I are working together with various experimantal Gedcom from Ancestry and FTM to produce a reasonably comprehensive Plugin. So expect updates to either his or my Plugin shortly, because both current version shave shortcomings. Also FH V6.1.1 currently under trial adds beneficial conversions for imports from those and other products, with possibly more to come...
I also have an updated Fix Date Fields Plugin that copes with many more unusual Date formats and Date Phrases about to be published.
So unless your need is urgent, it is best to wait awhile before finally migrating to FH. However, if you are happy to help with testing and providing feedback then please do so.
