2nd marriage not showing on diagran of all relatives
In a diagram I have a person with two marriages and both spouses show, however on entering a second marriage for a different person it has failed to show. Settings in Diagram options are the same.

Re: 2nd marriage not showing on diagran of all relatives
For FH purposes 'relatives' are ancestors, descendants, and all descendants of ancestors (loosely, all 'blood' relatives, although adopting families are treated in the same way). An All Relatives diagram displays relatives of the diagram root or couple plus spouses of any of those people. So if a relative has two spouses they will both show. But a second 'spouse of a spouse' of a relative does not fall within this definition, so will not be displayed in an All Relatives diagram.
There are various ways round this if you want them to appear in the diagram:
1. It may be possible to change the individual or couple who are the diagram root, but this is likley to exclude other important people from the diagram.
2. You can try using the Everyone diagram (View>Standard Diagrams>Everyone) but this will include absolutely everyone in your file and the layout is often messy, needing a lot of adjustment.
3. You can insert an extra box or tree into the existing diagram. Right click in the background of the diagram and select Insert into Diagram then select a tree type and choose the extra spouse (who is not currently displayed) as the diagram root. You will probably need to move some boxes or branches around in the original diagram to make room for it in the appropriate place. You can save this diagram as an FH Chart, but when you add more individuals to your file the layout will shift so the extra tree may not always stay exactly where you want it in relation to the main tree.

There is a Wish List item that would resolve that problem by displaying everyone related to the root person/couple.

]I'm still confused - but thanks for all suggestions. The second spouse does indeed show up on "everyone" However what I can't understand is why one person can have two marriages showing and another can't .
see upload for settings - missing spouse is alexander

Re: 2nd marriage not showing on diagran of all relatives
It depends on whether the 'person' is a direct blood relative of the Diagram Root person/couple, or just a Spouse of a blood relative.I can't understand is why one person can have two marriages showing and another can't.
If the 'person' is a direct blood relative, then all their Spouses are shown.
But if the 'person' is a Spouse of a blood relative, then only that one partnership is shown.
So by changing the Diagram Root person/couple, different spouses may get included.
The reason given by Calico Pie is that in many cases the Diagram can become too complicated to display without excessive crossing lines, etc. Bear in mind that one of the Diagram rules is that all members of the same generation must appear on the same row. As a retired software professional I can understand their dilemma, although in some simple cases it would seem quite feasible to include all spouses. It just depends on how many further branches are associated with the extra partnership (i.e. parents, siblings, children, etc, related to the extra spouse).
If you make the 'person' and one Spouse the Diagram Root couple, then all the Spouses and associated relations will be shown.
I am sure Calico Pie are aware of the problem, because it is a regularly recurring topic in these Forums.

Re: 2nd marriage not showing on diagran of all relatives
If a person is a 'relative' of the diagram root person/couple (under the definition given in my earlier reply) then any spouse of that person will also be shown in the diagram. So that person could have two or more spouses and they would all show.what I can't understand is why one person can have two marriages showing and another can't .
However if a person is not a 'relative' of the diagram root, but is only showing in the diagram because they are a spouse of someone who is a 'relative', then no other spouses of that person will show.
In your example, is Maggie Sim Rushford Middleton a 'relative' of the diagram root person/couple? In other words, is she herself a descendant, ancestor, or descendant of an ancestor of the diagram root? Or is she displayed in the diagram because she is a spouse of someone so related? Is it actually her spouse William who is the relative of the diagram root? If so, William could have multiple spouses displayed but Maggie's other spouse Alexander won't show because he is not a spouse of a relative of the diagram root.

Ah! all is now clear - what I didn't get before was that you couldn't add a second spouse to someone who was not a blood relative of the root person. Thanks to all for taking the trouble to reply.

Re: 2nd marriage not showing on diagran of all relatives
You can certainly add such a spouse to your file, as you already have done with Maggie's husband. It is just that the spouse won't be displayed in certain diagrams.
If you want to produce a diagram which includes both her husbands, just select Maggie as the diagram root. If you want to include as many as possible of William's relatives, select Maggie and William as a couple to be the diagram root. (But this probably won't include everyone who is in your original diagram, because there are likely to be some individuals who are blood relatives of the original diagram root but not blood relatives of William).
