Hi,
There might be a multiple file issue on my drive, so apologies if the plug in works partly the way I would like it to.
I've just started to reconnect some of my media.
Although the plug in works, is there an improvement planned whereby you can select the parent folder, get it to search through all the sub folders.
If it finds the files it will reconnect to each file automatically without asking you to select or save on a file by file basis.
Possibly at the start of the process, add a check box to say something like : " Reconnect and Save to latest file if duplicates are found". so this works automatically for multiple images.
I'm grateful for the plug in - but is this possible for the authors to do ?

Re: Check and Repair Media Links
Yes, it is probably possible for an option like that to be added.
However, the search and save currently involves a two stage dialogue.
1) Search a chosen parent folder for matching file-names and select preferred file.
2) Select the destination Media sub-folder and file-name to be saved.
At stage 1) automatically selecting the first matching file found is OK.
At stage 2) automatically using the destination path & file-name in the Media Record is OK.
But if the Media Record path is NOT within the Project Media folder should the Plugin prompt for assistance, or simply put a warning message in the final Result Set?

Re: Check and Repair Media Links
Do as it does now by prompting the user to seek another folder only after all the positive matches are found.
Am I right in thinking it's currently a manual prompt, on every occasion , that the plug in is trying to link media, whether there could be a suitable match already there ?
Thanks for considering this request Mike.

Re: Check and Repair Media Links
If I understand your question correctly, the Plugin leaves all satisfactory file links alone, apart from converting absolute links to relative links.
Only broken links (the ones marked with an X) are analysed to attempt a repair by finding matching filenames. When a match is found the file is preferably copied into the Project Media folder and the Media Record file link adjusted to match if necessary.
If there is only one matching file in the search folder then only the stage 2) prompt is invoked to confirm the Media folder.

Re: Check and Repair Media Links
Hi Mike,
Two cases appear to be happening :-
1) If there's a possibility of more than 1 file, the pop up occurs, list the file and you select the one you want. This I can understand.
2) Th other is when there is non pop up, the plug in has found the correct media but there is still a 'File Save' prompt to re-connnect the media.
Is the later case normal ? and would it be better just to automatically re-connect to the media file.

Re: Check and Repair Media Links
1) As you correctly say, this only occurs if more than one filename matches.
So after step 1) a matching filename has been chosen or only one was found initially.
But that file is NOT within the Project Media folder because it has been found elsewhere on disc.
2) Always occurs and asks where the file must be saved within the Project Media folder and allows the filename to be changed.
So in summary, step 1) finds a matching filename (not folder) anywhere on disc, and step 2) determines where to copy that file into the Project Media folder to integrate it with the Project.
Returning to your original request. Step 1) can automatically choose the first matching filename found. Step 2) can automatically copy it into the Project Media folder if that is defined in the Media Record. But if the Media Record defines a folder outside the Media folder then what should happen?
