I am considering migrating away from The Master Genealogist, and downloaded Family Historian (6.0.4) this morning. Since I retain things better if I can annotate as I read, I decided to print out the Help section. It did not seem very user friendly that I could not print out everything at once, but had to do it section by section, however I was able live with that. What I found more disconcerting was the fact that glitches in the program made it impossible to print several sections. For example, when you try to print "Workspace 9, The Web Search Window," what you get is "Workspace 8, The Map Window."
Being able to print the Help section is obviously not critical. However, it was certainly not a good omen for my first look at Family Historian. I would appreciate long time users views on whether glitches such as this common throughout the substantive areas of the program?

Just tried printing the individual sections to PDF, including the one you mentioned, and experienced no problems at all, so can't really understand why you are experiencing a problem.
If you are trying to print a hard copy of the whole of any Windows program help file that's in the chm format then I would tend to go a different route:
Find the Help File(s) in the Installation Directory, i.e. in Family Historian there are two files with a .chm extension (fh.chm and fh_plugins.chm) and copy them to your Desktop. Then, unless you have a programme installed that can convert the file (e.g. Calibre), use a free online conversion service such as Zamzar - http://www.zamzar.com - to covert to PDF or whatever format you want. It's a quick process; and you should find the end result is far more user friendly.

In a word, no. I've been a satisfied FH user for several years, and I've found the program very solid indeed. Of course, any piece of software as powerful, flexible and customisable as FH is bound to have defects but, in my experience as an ex-software developer, in FH they are few and far between. When issues are found, this User Group is an invaluable source of very rapid assistance, complementing the good support offered by Calico Pie.I would appreciate long time users views on whether glitches such as this common throughout the substantive areas of the program?
Give FH a try; I'd be surprised if you didn't warm to it.

I also am a retired software professional and very pleased with the quality and stability of FH.
As a newcomer may I suggest you look at our how_to:key_features_for_newcomers|> Key Features for Newcomers.
The very first topic is how_to:family_historian_documentation|> Family Historian Documentation where you will find PDF/Epub/Mobi versions to print. I know some are not the latest for V6, but the vast majority still applies.
You can also print any of the other [kb]|[/kb] pages.

Family Historian uses the standard Windows Help Tool, I have just tried printing the sections you mention and have done so with out problems.
Try right clicking on the Index entry and selecting print you can then select either a single page or a page and all it's sub-pages.
