I cannot find where I can obtain a diagram showing either
(a) from my great great great great grandfather to myself only showing male line and spouses or
(b) from myself to my 4x great grandfather only showing male line and spouses?
and if possible

Any help gratefully received

Re: Diagram of Direct Line
I spend a fair amount of time "Hiding" everyone who doesn't belong in the picture I want to present; I'd suggest that's probably the simplest and most flexible way to achieve exactly the picture you want (if you Hide a person, their spouses and descendants disappear too), but I too would be interested to know if there's a more intelligent way to do it.

Re: Diagram of Direct Line
I have moved this topic to the General Usage forum, as the General forum is for non-FH related discussions.
Select your great great great great grandfather and yourself in the Records window (select one, then hold down Ctrl key and select the other.) Then use Tools > How Related. Check that you are the first of the two people shown in the dialog box and your ancestor is the second, (click Swap if not) and Click Display Graphically.
Note: if the two pople are in reverse order the default display will be different and includes some siblings (I think this is a minor bug) but the extra boxes can still be hidden.

Re: Diagram of Direct Line
If you don't want siblings, there is Hide Siblings in the Display Options popup window.
To remove the coloured border on the direct line boxes, use Diagram > Family Connection Mapper and click the red X Delete button.
Kim, please update your Profile via User Control Panel at top of this web page and set Family Historian version, so it appears in your panel to the right of your postings.

Re: Diagram of Direct Line
I reported a couple of issues with the How Related tool in the Beta forum (so I assume Calico Pie are aware of them) but it may be worth recording them here for the benefit of anyone who has not used this tool before:
1. If an option to hide spouses and/or siblings has been used, then when the diagram is closed afterwards there is always a message asking if you want to save changes to the diagram. I assume this is because FH handles it as if the user has manually hidden some of the boxes. However it seems a bit odd because from the user's point of view no changes have been made. And it means an extra mouse click to close the diagram.
2. If the two people selected are a direct ancestor and descendant pair, there is an inconsistency in the default display. If the ancestor is selected as the first person and the descendant as the second person, the default display does include siblings of the descendant and all intermediate generations (but not siblings of the ancestor). However if the order is swapped so that the descendant is the first person and the ancestor is the second, the default display does not include siblings. The effect is as if the 'hide siblings' option had been ticked, except that in this case the diagram does close without first asking if you want to save changes.
