Notes on Individual Summary Report

Post by steveflanuk » 25 May 2015 20:39

Apologies if this has been asked before - FH newbie and I've searched the forum but can't find a topic that matches my query.

On the Individual Summary Report, when a person has more than 1 note attached to them, they show in separate sections (Individual Note 1 and Individual Note 2).

Is there any way that these can be shown together under a generic "Notes" section?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the FHUG Steve.

I presume you mean Individual local Notes, Spouse local Notes, and shared Note Records.
i.e. Everything shown on the Notes tab of the Property Box if Fact Notes are not shown.

The short answer is No they cannot be combined.

However, with some limitations it is possible to combine them in the Main Section before the Individual Events and Attributes.
In the Report Options > Contents tab under Main Section Items click Add.
In Add Item enter Label: Notes and Expression: =GetParagraph(%INDI.NOTE[1]>TEXT%,1) and select Show even if empty
You then repeat that process but with a minimal Label such as : for each possible Note Paragraph but with Show if not empty.
e.g.
=GetParagraph(%INDI.NOTE[1]>TEXT%,2) 1st Note Record 2nd paragraph
=GetParagraph(%INDI.NOTE[2]>TEXT%,1) 2nd Note Record 1st paragraph
=GetParagraph(%INDI.NOTE[2]>TEXT%,2) 2nd Note Record 2nd paragraph
=GetParagraph(%INDI.NOTE2[1]%,1) 1st Individual local Note 1st paragraph
=GetParagraph(%INDI.NOTE2[1]%,2) 1st Individual local Note 2nd paragraph
=GetParagraph(%INDI.FAMS[1]>NOTE2[1]%,1) 1st Spouse 1st local Note 1st paragraph
=GetParagraph(%INDI.FAMS[1]>NOTE2[1]%,2) 1st Spouse 1st local Note 2nd paragraph

This must extended to cater for the highest number of Notes, Spouses, and Paragraphs you are likely to need.

The reason for the =GetParagraph() function is explained in how_to:display_long_text_like_notes|> Display long text such as Notes.

Thanks for the reply Mike - much appreciated.

I'll probably work with the expressions you kindly provided.
