FH V6 and Windows 10

Post by tatewise » 15 Mar 2015 20:57

Ed has FH V5 on XP and was considering upgrading to FH V6 until realising it is not supported on Windows XP.

Sounds like time for a Windows upgrade, but wait until later in the year when Windows 10 will appear, and should be a better option than Windows 8!

I think you're probably right about a Windows upgrade, Mike. I'm wary of upgrading to W7 because the release of W10 is imminent, and the mere thought of upgrading to W8 is enough to put me off using computers for life. Everything I've seen, read and heard about it fills me with bewilderment and despair!

On the matter of W10, though, I note from the FH website that FH v6 will only run on systems up to W8.1. Will it run run on W10? Or won't we know until W10 is released? I don't want to buy a W10 machine if half my programs won't run on it.

You will be lucky to find Win 7 available on any new PC, but if you do then I understand that an upgrade to Win 10 will be free, as it also will for Win 8.

FH V6 will undoubtedly be supported on Win 10 by the time it is available on new PC. Can't vouch for other programs you may have.

BTW: Win 8 is not as bad as the press would have you believe.

I've just received the following from Calico Pie:

"Although FH 6 will not run on the Windows 10 Technical Preview, it will run on the release version."
