Referring to the Fact Note in role sentences

Post by JohnJ_au » 30 Dec 2014 13:29

For the principle sentence I can include text from the Fact Note, up to the first comma, using: {=TextPart(%FACT.NOTE2%),1,1,STD))}.

However this does not work for the Witness sentence. Note that I can include text in the Witness sentence from the Witness note using {=TextPart(GetFieldText(GetContextItem(WITNESS_LINK),"%~.NOTE2%"),1,1,STD))} but I'm after the Fact Note text not the Witness Note text.

Any suggestions (and comments on the above function calls)?

Thanks

{=TextPart(GetFieldText(GetContextItem(WITNESS_LINK),"%~.NOTE2%"),1)} is OK.
{=TextPart(GetFieldText(GetContextItem(WITNESS_LINK),"%~.NOTE2%"),1,1,STD)} is the same.

The Help for =GetContextItem() says that you don't always need the function, because {%FACT.DATE:YEAR%} should retrieve the Fact Date Year, but it does not work.
So {%FACT.NOTE2%} should retrieve the Fact Note but also fails.
If it worked, the expression should be {=TextPart(%FACT.NOTE2%,1)}.

I shall add this to the list for Calico Pie to investigate.

Thanks Mike. When you're talking to Calicoe Pie can you also tell them that %FACT.PLAC% also returns a null string when called from a witness sentence. Interestingly {note}, {date} and {place} all work fine in Witness sentences so clearly this FACT information is accessible (somehow).

Cheers ... John

I suspect the {%FACT.****%} format is 'broken' for all such Data References in Witness Sentences.

[EDIT 2016: Now fixed in FH V6.1.4 (Feb 2016).]
