In my copy of version 6: when I click on the "home" button I always get the Focus Window - although I have ticked " Display the Records Window, instead of the Focus Window, at startup" in preferences.
I would have expected the view to change to the Records Window when pressing the "home" button
Unfortunately, it seems necessary to press the "home" button to escape from the Map Window.
Have I overlooked some setting somewhere?

Re: focus window/ record window
The Map window closes in the same way as any other window: either by clicking on the x in the top right of the window or by clicking the x in the icon in the Navigation Bar on the left.
Clicking on the Home button does open the Focus window even if FH is set to open on the Records window at startup. I agree this is not ideal, but I never have any reason to use the Home button. Opening the Focus window doesn't close the Map window.

If you do not see the navigation bar on the left, you can display it by selecting View>Navigation Bar.

Thanks for that reminder - I realised things looked a bit different but didn't spot that the navigation bar was missing.
It still seems strange to have two buttons - "Home" and "Focus" - which do the same thing.

Home takes you to the focus window for the file root, Focus takes you to the focus window of the currently selected person.

Re: focus window/ record window
The Home and Focus buttons do NOT do the same thing.
Home opens the Focus window with the File Root Individual in focus.
Focus opens the Focus window with the currently selected Individual in focus.
It is the same as the magnifying-glass Focus icon in many other scenarios.
